Did you know EPA has determined radon to be a leading cause of lung cancer, second only to cigarette smoke? EPA attributes 15,000 to 30,000 deaths annually to radon induced lung cancer. EPA has established an action level of 4.0 picocuries per liter of air (pCi/L). If your home has 4.0 pCi/L or above EPA recommends the installation of a radon mitigation system.
A properly installed radon mitigation system is 100% effective in reducing the levels of radon in your home. The key word is “properly”. Too many times while inspecting homes I find the radon mitigation system is not properly installed.
